天然产物是新药研究的重要来源。迄今为止，30%的临床抗癌药物和抗感染药物来自天然产物。近年来，随着基因组学、蛋白组学和代谢组学以及系统生物学的快速发展，从中药和天然药物中寻找、筛选新的天然产物，揭示其作用机制和应用价值成为当前研究的一大热点。本人多年来一直来致力于中药和天然药物活性（抗肿瘤、免疫佐剂、免疫抑制等）成分及其作用机制研究，工作主要集中于：中药和天然药物化学成分的提取、分离和结构鉴定；中药和天然药物活性成分构效关系的研究；中药和天然药物活性成分的细胞和分子作用机制研究；以及中药和天然药物有效成分和有效部位新药的开发研究。

试图在生物活性为导向下，通过现代色谱技术，从中药和天然药物中追踪分离、筛选和鉴定一些结构新颖的具有免疫活性或抗肿瘤活性、潜在药物价值的天然产物；采用基因组学和蛋白质组学等方法阐明具有潜在药用价值天然产物的细胞和分子作用机制及其信号转导通路的特点，发现一些天然产物的新的作用通路和新的靶分子，为高通量筛选活性天然产物及其新药的开发研究奠定基础。
