Animal science and technology department was founded in 1934, incorporated into Agriculture and animal department of
Animal science and technology department is served by 20 teachers now, within 4 professors, 3 doctoral supervisors, 10 Master’s supervisors. Among them, 15 teachers have master's degrees, 7 have doctorate’s degrees. 3 teaching and researching rooms are constructed as Animal nutrition, Animal heredity & breeding and Animal production process. 3 laboratories are built as Animal nutrition, Animal molecule heredity and genetic engineering, animal production, and there are far more 10 proving grounds for teaching.
Undergraduate Education: Animal science and technology department provides a four-year education and bachelor's degree in Agronomy. It offers opportunities to apply animal biology, biochemistry, molecular biology and other classes of life science and study of animal breeding and genetics, nutrition, physiology, behavior and management. The curriculum is unusually flexible and covers a great variety of classes, from zoology, physiology, biochemistry, heredity to animal nutrition. This major provides excellent preparation for students who will enter graduate schools or professional schools to obtain advanced degrees, as well as those who plan to take positions immediately after graduation. The students are of high-attainment and professional. They have talents at a wide field of animal production, concatenate services and feed industry, teaching or doing scientific research at relevant universities and colleges.
Graduate Education: Themain research areas of Animal Nutrition institute are feed resources& Evaluation& utilization, Feed additive, Nutrition Requirement of Domestic Animals, Animal Production System Management; The Institute of Animal Breeding and Reproduction contains Animal quantity Heredity, Animal Molecular Heredity, Animal Colony Heredity; Animal Production Science includes Animal Production Science, Food Microorganism and Fermented Project and so on.
Scientific research and development item of industrialization: Our department undertake many great subject at national, provincial and ministerial levels and great horizontal project currently. the outlay of scientific research is nearly 10 million RMB. Professor Jianxin Liu obtains the subsidy of national scientific fund for outstanding people of 2004 and the project subsidy fund is 1 million RMB; Professor Anguo Chen has couples of great horizontal scientific research projects and more than 1 million RMB fund these years.
Teaching scientific achievement: More than 100 scientific papers and academic publications deliver at home and abroad every year. More than 10 articles are cited by SCI. In recent years we study about Pasture resources and utilization, Additive of Chinese herbal medicine, Nutritional manipulation using zeolite, Meat quality improvement(MQI-1) and so on. Thereby we obtain the prize for the achievement in science and technology of provincial level and ministerial level, we also get international, national patents for our invention.
